YSFON Revives Ramat Cup

The Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria has re-introduced the annual International Ramat Cup Championship.

The famous U-16 boys football tournament suffered a setback in recent past due to the security situation across the country. Speaking to sports journalist at the weekend, President of YSFON Dr. Nasir Gauna said, “With the return of the competition, Nigerian youths will once again have the ample opportunity to showcase their talents.”

Gauna said the dearth of talents in the country must be seriously addressed to give the nation a new lease of life. The Secretary General of YSFON Patrick Okpavuerhe appealed to the 36 state chairmen and secretaries to give adequate support to youths in their domain to enable them to excel. He insisted that the 2016 Ramat Cup scheduled to hold in Kano is another challenge that would give the organisation the needed boost.

The 2016 championship will be hosted by the Kano State Government. The government has assured visiting players and officials of adequate security. Participants at the tournament are state YSFON champions who qualified through the state play offs.
